By Car – Head south from Amman on the Desert Highway (Highway 15) which runs the length of the country, from North to South. After approximately 280km (175 miles) you will come to a small settlement called Rashidiyah (الراشدية). To your left will be a turn off to Wadi Rum Road. You will need to go past the turn-off and make a U-turn to get onto Wadi Rum Road. Follow this road for about 20 km (12 miles) until you reach the Wadi Rum Visitor Centre. Pay the entrance fees or show your Jordan Pass and then continue onwards for 6 km (4 miles) to the Wadi Rum Rest House. You guide will be waiting for you when you arrive.
By Bus – There is no direct bus from Amman to Wadi Rum. Most buses (not the JETT buses) travelling along the Desert Highway (Highway 15) to Aqaba will let off in Rashidiyah (الراشدية) at the start of the Wadi Rum Road. From here, we can arrange for you to be picked up and brought to Wadi Rum for an additional cost. It is also possible to hitchhike along this road as many vehicles will be coming to the Wadi Rum Village. If you stay on the bus all the way to Aqaba, read the Aqaba section below to find out how to reach Wadi Rum.
By Car – Leave Wadi Musa (the town next to Petra) via highway 35. Continue on this road south until you read Rashidiyah (الراشدية) and the turn off to the Wadi Rum Road on your left. You will have to go past the turnoff, make a U-turn and the turn right onto Wadi Rum Road.
By Bus – There is a tourist bus that leaves Wadi Musa (the town next to Petra) every morning around 6:00 AM. Ask your hotel or other accomodation to book your seats on the bus and it will pick you up at the door of your hotel in the morning. As of November 2016, this bus costs 7 JD per person. The ride takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. When you arrive at the Visitor Centre, pay the entrance fees or show your Jordan Pass. Continue on the bus to the Wadi Rum Rest House where we will be waiting for you.

By Bus – JETT buses travelling from Aqaba to Amman pass the Wadi Rum Road turnoff but are not allowed to let passengers off. If you are leaving Aqaba before 1:00 PM, it is possible to catch a bus from the main Aqaba bus station to the Wadi Rum Village. Depending on the season and the day of the week, these buses may be more or less frequent. We recommend going to the bus station and asking about the scheule a day in advance. It is also possible to take a minibus, also from the main bus station, heading towards Amman, Ma’an, or Petra. These buses pass by the turnoff to the Wadi Rum Road and can let you off there. From here, we can arrange for you to be picked up and brought to Wadi Rum for an additional cost. It is also possible to hitchhike along this road as many vehicles will be coming to the Wadi Rum Village.
By Taxi – It is easy to arrange for a private taxi to take you from Aqaba to Wadi Rum. For an additional cost, we can arrange this taxi for you. Let us know if you require a taxi when making a booking.
Taxi
We can arrange taxis to take you to Wadi Rum from any point in Jordan and also from Wadi Rum to different destinations. We don’t take commission of any kind – you only pay the driver. The drivers are eager to work for us and we make sure that we choose reliable drivers. If we send you a driver you can be certain that he is trustworthy in every way. They bring you directly to our office in Wadi Rum which makes things easier for you and us. The easiest way would be if the taxi picks you up at your hotel. Give us the time which is the most convenient for you and he will be there. If there are any difficulties, please call us. You don’t need to book a driver a long time in advance, the evening before is usually enough notice.
For other routes we would need to ask the driver what he will charge. He will give us an honest and realistic price, since we have a pretty good idea what the cost should be.
If you come to us on your own just tell the driver that you want to go to the Wadi Rum Quiet Village in the village of Wadi Rum. This is the easiest way because we don’t have street names in the village. We also recommend to forward our phone number to the driver. He can call us so that we can arrange the most comfortable way to bring you to our office. Afterwards we’ll start with your tour to the desert which is just a few meters away from there.
